The Ministry of Energy and Business is inviting the public and private schools as well as tertiary institutions to participate in the inaugural Youth Energy Entrepreneurship Challenge 2025.

    The purpose of the challenge is to increase the knowledge and awareness among 15-19 year old students regarding sustainable energy in Barbados and its impact on everyday lives and the wider economy and society.

    The objective of the challenge is for participants to submit a business plan for the recently renovated Solar House in Queens Park, St. Michael to incentivize visits with a view to increase the awareness and benefits of sustainable energy – low carbon technology, energy efficiency technologies and renewable energy technologies.

    The challenge seeks to:

    • Increase awareness among the youth regarding sustainable energy and the 2030 goal.
    • Promote and highlight the synergies between energy and business.
    • Foster creativity regarding the development of a business plan.
    • Encourage innovation through design.
    • Encourage collaboration among participants.

    The challenge is to be completed with groups of no more than three (3) participants and schools and tertiary institutions are free to organize their own method of elimination to submit their most outstanding participants for each category.

    The deadline for submission is on or before February 14, 2025 at 11.59 p.m.
