The Ministry with funding from the InterAmerican Development Bank (IADB) has developed an Integrated Resources and Resilience Plan (IRRP) for Barbados together with Mott MacDonald.

The IRRP will enable an integrated assessment of demand and supply-side options, assist MESBE in optimizing energy services and minimizing electricity costs for consumers, and ultimately develop the Ministry’s capacity to undertake the IRRP process on its own. The IRRP has been developed with the Barbados National Energy Policy (BNEP) 2019 -2030 in mind.

The policy aims to achieve a modern, efficient, diversified and environmentally sustainable energy sector for the island state.
